I am Sidney Opiyo (he/him), an environmental scientist and marine ecologist focused on climate adaptation and coastal resilience. As an MSc Coastal Science and Policy Fellow at the University of California, Santa Cruz, My work is empowering marginalized coastal fishing communities to create climate adaptation strategies that blend traditional knowledge with scientific insights, helping shape inclusive climate policies.
As a conservation photographer, I use powerful imagery to tell the stories of these communities and highlight the urgent need for marine conservation and climate action. With over four years of experience in environmental advocacy, I am passionate about connecting science, policy, and community engagement to develop sustainable solutions for vulnerable ecosystems.
Talk to me about conservation photography and storytelling climate change, youth engagement, fishing and fisheries (small scale fisheries)
