Maritza is a water equity advocate with a passion for protecting the natural world and amplifying the voices of the comunidades Latinx. She has Bachelor's in Environmental Science from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Master's in Marine Resource Management from Oregon State University, which led her to community conservation projects in the Pacific Northwest and in North Carolina.
